Alabama football: Updates from Saban’s press conference before Texas game

It’s Texas week for Alabama football. The Crimson Tide are set to host the Longhorns at Bryant-Denny Stadium Saturday, in a matchup that ESPN’s College Gameday will be in attendance for.

Alabama is coming off a win against Middle Tennessee State to open the season. Texas beat Rice last week.

The game is scheduled for 6 p.m. Saturday in Tuscaloosa. It will be aired on ESPN.

Ahead of the matchup, Alabama head coach Nick Saban is scheduled to speak with the media one final time on Wednesday. Saban’s press conference was scheduled to begin at 5:50 p.m.

— Saban says Texas has “really, really good scheme” for offensive line. Notes group is big and physical with plenty of experience.

— Saban says Jermaine Burton has shown maturity this season. Says Alabama emphasized that who players are off the field impacts who they are on it. Says Burton has learned to understand that.

-Says Texas has two very good interior defensive linemen. Says ends are athletic and unit does well as a team.

— Saban says Nico Johnson is a great person and was a smart player. Says he will make a good coach and is of high character.
