Alabama football LB Jihaad Campbell announces NFL Draft decision
Alabama football is losing one of its top inside linebackers. Jihaad Campbell announced his decision to enter the 2025 NFL Draft on Thursday.
Campbell made the announcement in a social media post.
“These last three years in Tuscaloosa have molded me into a better player and a better man,” Campbell said in a statement. “And this experience has been special and something that I will never forget. I feel like I am ready now to take the next step in my career.”
Campbell thanked current Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer in the statement, along with DeBoer’s predecessor, Nick Saban. He also made special mention of former UA academic advisor Mary Maruggi, who died in July.
He closed with a message to Alabama fans.
“Bama Nation– I will miss you,” Campbell said. “We have the greatest fans in college football and your support these three years has meant the world to me. Forever, Roll Tide!”
Campbell joined the Crimson Tide in the 2022 recruiting class. He was a major contributor in 2023, and took over a starting ILB role this season as a junior.
The 6-foot-3, 244-pound Campbell earned second-team All-America honors from the FWAA for his efforts in 2024. He finished the year with 117 total tackles, including 11.5 for loss, and five sacks.
Campbell also contributed an interception, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery. Alabama finished its 2024 season Tuesday, with a loss to Michigan in the ReliaQuest Bowl.
The NFL Draft is scheduled to begin April 25.
