Alabama football lands commitment from local 2026 LB prospect

Alabama football continued its hot streak on the recruiting trail on Friday. The Crimson Tide secured a commitment from linebacker Zay Hall.

Hall was a local prospect, and plays his high school football at Hillcrest in Tuscaloosa. He’s listed a three-star talent on the 247Sports composite ratings.

“For the next four years, I will be taking my talents to the University of Alabama,” Hall said during his commitment ceremony, broadcast live on Tide 100.9 in Tuscaloosa.

The 247Sports composite lists Hall as the No. 127 linebacker in the 2026 recruiting class. He became the first linebacker to join the Crimson Tide’s group.

Hall stands 6-foot-2 and weights in at 230 pounds. He lists a 4.56 40-yard-dash time in his social media bio.

Hall chose Alabama over his other finalist, Virginia Tech. He had a list of offers from lower-level schools, including Memphis and Middle Tennessee State.

The addition of Hall did not impact Alabama’s standing in the 247 composite team rankings. The Crimson Tide ,which now has 13 commitments in the 2026 class, currently sits 11th nationally.

Recent days have been extremely kind to Kalen DeBoer and his Alabama staff’s 2026 class. Thursday alone, Alabama landed two blue-chip recruits, in four-star running back EJ Crowell and four-star tight end Mack Sutter.

The class already includes a quarterback in Jett Thomalla, who flipped from Iowa State, and one five-star, cornerback Jorden Edmonds.
