Alabama football: Injury updates on Tyler Booker, Jaheim Oatis before Ole Miss game
Alabama football had two big pieces missing in Saturday’s game against South Florida. Offensive guard Tyler Booker missed the contest with back spasms, while defensive lineman Jaheim Oatis didn’t dress and was wearing a walking boot on his left foot due to an ankle injury.
On Wednesday, Nick Saban gave an update on the health of both players.
“Tyler Booker is practicing and so is Jaheim Oatis,” Saban said. “So they haven’t had issues. That doesn’t mean they’re not day-to-day in terms of coming back and getting over injuries, but they are practicing.”
Terrance Ferguson got the start at guard in place of Booker against the Bulls. The offensive line struggled as a unit, allowing five sacks.
The defense was solid, even without Oatis’ presence on the interior defensive line. The Crimson Tide only allowed three points, with Tim Smith starting in Oatis’ place.
Each of the players still have several days to continue their recoveries, with Alabama facing Ole Miss on Saturday. The Crimson Tide and Rebels are scheduled to kick off at 2:30 p.m. at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
The game will be aired on ABC.
