Alabama football: Injury updates on Lawson, Ferguson and more before Texas A&M

Alabama football’s injury situation remains murky entering Saturday’s game at Texas A&M. The Crimson Tide was without two major contributors against Mississippi State with inside linebacker and defensive signal-caller Deontae Lawson, plus offensive guard Terrence Ferguson both out.

On Wednesday, Alabama head coach Nick Saban gave a brief update on the two during the SEC coaches teleconference.

“Both guys are able to practice,” Saban said. “We probably won’t know how effective they’ll be for the game until later in the week.”

Both players missed the Mississippi State game with ankle injuries. They each sustained the injuries during the Crimson Tide’s win over Ole MIss to open SEC play.

Saban was also asked about wide receiver Jermaine Burton, who only played nine snaps against the Bulldogs despite being one of the Tide’s leading receivers this season.

“He’s been a little bit banged up,” Saban said. “We were gonna try to spot him in the game and get him through the game if we could and hopefully he’ll be better this week.”

Alabama and Texas A&M are scheduled to kick off at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in College Station. The game will be aired on CBS.
