Alabama football flips 4-star TE Marshall Pritchett’s commitment from North Carolina

Alabama football got a recruiting win on Tuesday, when it flipped tight end Marshall Pritchett’s commitment. Pritchett is listed as a four-star prospect in the class of 2025 in the 247Sports composite rankings.

Pritchett announced the news on his social media Tuesday. The announcement implied he will be early-enrolling at Tuscaloosa.

“After lots of thought and Prayer, I will be stepping away from my commitment to the University of North Carolina and changing my commitment to the University of Alabama,” Pritchett said in a statement. “(I’m) very excited for this opportunity Alabama has presented and can’t wait to work in January.”

The 247Sports composite lists Pritchett as the No. 22 tight end in the 2025 class, No. 404 overall player. He lists his height and weight as 6-foot-6, 225 pounds.

His father, Wes Pritchett ,played college football at Notre Dame and spent time in the NFL.

“Uses high football IQ to take advantage of zone coverage and has proven to be rather competitive in catch-and-run situations,” 247Sports director of scouting Andrew Ivins wrote in his scouting report of Pritchett. “Owns limited in-line experience, but is a willing blocker out on the perimeter and should get only more effective as a lead escort with improved play strength. Projects as an F-tight end on Saturdays that can line up in the wing or in the slot and create mismatches. Likely will need a developmental year or two to get the body right, but has a chance to make an impact at the Power Four level with his receiving acumen.”

Pritchett plays his high school football at Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School in Georgia. He had 46 catches for 674 yards and six touchdowns in 2023.

Alabama’s 2025 class is currently ranked No. 2 nationally, behind only Ohio State. Pritchett became the Tide’s 23rd commitment in the group.
