Alabama football announces team award-winners, 2023 permanent captains
Alabama football named Jalen Milroe, Dallas Turner and Malachi Moore its permanent captains for the 2023 season during its yearly awards banquet on Sunday. Those three players will get their hand and cleat prints imprinted in concrete at Denny Chimes on UA’s campus before next season’s spring game.
The captaincy announcement was part of a big night for Milroe. The Crimson Tide’s quarterback was also named the team’s MVP, and most inspiring player.
Turner shared the Alabama’s defensive player of the year award with Kool-Aid McKinstry. He also was an outstanding defensive performer, leading the group in tackles and points, alongside Chris Braswell, Caleb Downs and Deontae Lawson.
Moore earned the Pat Trammel Award, along with Justin Eboigbe and Roydell Williams. He also took home the President’s Award, sharing it with Robbie Ouzts, Damon Payne Jr. and Williams.
Alabama made the College Football Playoff field, also announced Sunday, sliding in as the No. 4 seed. The Crimson Tide will face Michigan Jan. 1 in the Rose Bowl semifinal game.
