Alabama flips another 2024 recruit from SEC school, adds 3-star TE Jay Lindsey

Three days after reopening his recruitment, Jay Lindsey has decided he wants a future in Tuscaloosa. The 2024 tight end announced his verbal commitment to Alabama on Tuesday afternoon.

Lindsey is a three-star according to 247Sports Composite rankings and attends Patrician Academy in Butler, Ala. He had originally been committed to Mississippi State since April. But the Crimson Tide offered on June 15.

“To all of the Mississippi State coaches and staff, I would like to thank you for everything that have done for me and my family. Thank you for taking your time to recruit me and for being so good to me during the process,” Lindsey said in a statement released Saturday.

Lindsey is the second tight end in the class of 2024, joining four-star, top-100 recruit Caleb Odom. Overall, Lindsey is the 19th overall prospect and the eighth from Alabama.

Patrician Academy is an AISA-AA program and is 1-1 to start its season. Lindsey played tight end and defensive line for the Saints. He held offers from Ole Miss and Liberty, among others.

On Aug. 8, Alabama flipped four-star safety Peyton Woodyard from Georgia. It also nabbed Amari Jefferson from Tennessee on Aug. 5. The Tide’s overall team rank remained at No. 4 behind Georgia, Ohio State and Florida.
