Alabama DL Justin Eboigbe accepts Senior Bowl invitation
Alabama football’s Justin Eboigbe accepted an invitation to play in the Senior Bowl, the game announced on Thursday. Eboigbe became the second Crimson Tide player to accept his invite, joining kicker Will Reichard.
The redshirt senior defensive lineman returned from a neck injury that ended his 2022 season to become a key member of the 2023 Tide.
“Just looking at the year in review man, it’s been long road, a tough road,” Eboigbe said in November. “A lot of mental battles, a lot of physical battles there on the road to recovery. Not being sure of my future, can’t tell, as far as not knowing if I would be able to play the game of football again, not knowing how I’d be back on the field coming off the injury. And just seeing the fruits of my labor and the time spent. Everything that has happened has been something that I can be proud of.”
Eboigbe has seven sacks so far on the season, including one in the SEC championship game against Georgia. He’s also racked up 11.5 tackles for loss and 59 total tackles.
According to Alabama edge-rusher Dallas Turner, Eboigbe has also provided key leadership up front.
“Having him come back, as an older head, as a veteran, it’s really good to have a guy like that,’ Turner said in October. “He’s surrounded by a young group at defensive line as well, so he can lead them in the right direction, tell them what’s right from wrong, give them tips and be a good brother. It’s also good to have a guy like that on the line of scrimmage because he knows his stuff, he’s smart, so he communicates and we can be on the same page about a lot of things.”
The Senior Bowl is scheduled for Feb. 3 in Mobile. It will be aired on the NFL Network.
