Alabama DB becomes 2nd transfer to pick Southern California in 2 years
After two-and-a-half weeks in the transfer portal, Tre’Quon Fegans has found a new home.
The defensive back was one of three spring transfers to exit Alabama football, announcing his commitment to Southern California on Saturday afternoon. Fellow defensive back Jahquez Robinson joined former Tide cornerbacks coach Charles Kelly in Colorado. Tight end Elijah Brown remains available.
Fegans, a former top-125 player in his recruiting class and multi-time state champion at Thompson High had originally committed to Miami in 2021 but flipped his decision to Alabama. The 6-foot-2, 190-pounder will have four years of eligibility remaining with the Trojans.
Fegans is the second player to head west to USC in the last two seasons. Linebacker Shane Lee became a captain and All-Pac-12 honorable mention last fall. Fegans did not appear in any game for Alabama and redshirted.
After a spring in which the defensive depth was tested, Alabama is at six scholarship DBs after the transfers. Tony Mitchell, who also attended Thompson, is rostered but suspended indefinitely. The Tide offered Trenayvian Amos (Louisville) last week and hosted Jaylen Key (UAB) on April 26.
