Alabama crash involving 3 tractor-trailers kills 1, injures 3

An east Alabama multi-vehicle crash just before 1 a.m. Thursday killed a man from Kingsport, Tennessee, according to officials.

The crash killed 55-year-old James Davis, who was driving a tractor-trailer at the time on U.S. 80 near the 53 mile marker in Marengo County. His tractor-trailer was struck by another tractor-trailer driven by a Mississippi man.

Prior to the collision approximately a mile west of Uniontown, the Mississippi man’s tractor-trailer had been struck by a Texas man’s tractor-trailer.

Davis was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a release. The other tractor-trailer drivers and a passenger in the Mississippi man’s vehicle were injured and taken to an area hospital.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Highway Patrol Division is still investigating the crash.
