Alabama corrections officer allegedly received payment from state inmate
An Alabama corrections officer is facing criminal charges after she allegedly received payments from a state inmate, according to authorities and court records.
Ebony Breauna Chillous, 28, of Montgomery, was arrested Thursday with use of official position for personal gain and attempt to commit a controlled substance crime, said Alabama Department of Corrections spokeswoman Kelly Betts.
Chillous, an officer at Staton Correctional Facility in Elmore, was allegedly paid Nov. 30 by an inmate through Cash App — a mobile payment app –, according to filings in Montgomery County District Court.
Court records did not say what the payment was for or what the amount was.
Chillous resigned her position following her arrest, Betts said.
