Alabama congressman signs on to ‘Ukraine Fatigue Resolution’ to end military, financial aid to country
A resolution calling on Congress to end aid to Ukraine has a co-sponsor from Alabama.
U.S. Rep. Barry Moore, R-Wiregrass, is among 11 House members that signed on to the “Ukraine Fatigue Resolution,” which calls on America to stop military and financial aid to Ukraine nearly a year since Russia’s invasion and “urges all combatants to reach a peace agreement.”
The resolution was penned by U.S. Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., who announced the legislation Thursday.
“Congress should support [Gaetz’s] resolution and end taxpayer-funded blank checks to Ukraine,” Moore tweeted.
The resolution cites the $110 billion in “military, financial and humanitarian” aid already provided to Ukraine and notes the U.S. is the “top contributor of military aid to Ukraine compared to its counterparts.”
“President Joe Biden must have forgotten his prediction from March 2022, suggesting that arming Ukraine with military equipment will escalate the conflict to ‘World War III.’ America is in a state of managed decline, and it will exacerbate if we continue to hemorrhage taxpayer dollars toward a foreign war,” Gaetz said in a statement. “We must suspend all foreign aid for the War in Ukraine and demand that all combatants in this conflict reach a peace agreement immediately.”
