Alabama commuters prepare for 16-month I-59 construction as a ‘necessary inconvenience’

This fall, the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) will begin the widening and revitalization of four miles of I-59 from the I-459 interchange in Birmingham to Chalkville Mountain Road in Trussville.

The majority of local commuters seem to agree that while the construction period, predicted to last 16-months, will be inconvenient, it is worth it to clear up a long existing, recurring traffic jam.
