Alabama commit scores key TD as Parker beats Ramsay
Parker senior Jeremiah Beaman is known for stopping opponents from scoring touchdowns.
On Thursday night, he scored the biggest touchdown of the game against Ramsay in the Birmingham City Schools Stop The Violence Classic at Birmingham’s Legion Field.
Beaman caught a 37-yard touchdown pass from Malik Muhammed in the fourth quarter, and the Thundering Herd (2-0) held on for a 20-17 victory. On Beaman’s catch, Muhammed faked a run and threw a jump pass to Beaman, who then raced into the end zone for the touchdown.
“It was a perfect play our OC called that was meant to happen,” Beaman said. “They were sending everybody to stop the run. They underestimated me and I was able to slip behind the line and make the catch.”
Added Parker coach Frank Warren, “We have been waiting to run that play at the right moment, and we knew they were keying on the run. Malik was able to jump and hit him behind Ramsay’s defensive line.”

Coachspeak: “It was a hard-fought game. Ramsay is a championship team. We have to get better.” — Warren
“I think we played hard. I have to get the team prepared better. I have to get back to coaching the way I coach. Without our star running back, we knew this wasn’t going to be an easy game. Jayden (Martin) did a great job in his place. Washington gave us a spark after our quarterback went down in the second half, but I feel good about this team.” – Ramsay coach Ronnie Jackson
They said it …: “They played hard, but we were able to hang in there and get the win.” – Brundidge
“We played a little lower standard than we usually play. We didn’t play Parker football early in the game.” – Beaman
