Alabama coast faces early storm threat ahead of overnight severe weather
Late night severe storms are likely in Alabama starting Sunday night, but there could also be a few in south Alabama this morning and afternoon.
The National Weather Service in Mobile was watching storms developing closer to the Gulf Coast on Sunday morning and said there is a non-zero chance for a tornado through the lunchtime hours.
Forecasters said they were closely watching areas along the Interstate 10 corridor for the possibility of tornadoes and flooding.
The weather service was watching storms developing over Mobile and Baldwin counties and said there was a window over the next few hours where they could become severe.
Storms could also bring a lot of heavy rain, and forecasters will be watching for potential flooding through the afternoon hours.
Some areas could potentially see 3 to 5 inches of rain, forecasters said.
Another threat for severe storms is expected to arrive late tonight or early Sunday morning ahead of a cold front. Tornadoes, damaging winds, hail and more heavy rain will again be possible.

Much of southwest Alabama will have a Level 1 out of 5 risk for isolated severe storms overnight, and then a Level 2 or 3 risk through Monday morning.
