Alabama bowl projections: Can the Tide make the College Football Playoff field?

Alabama football faces a game of massive College Football Playoff implications on Saturday, when it travels to LSU. The Crimson Tide is coming off a bye week, where it moved up in the polls due to a handful of upsets across the sport.

Ahead of the LSU game, opinions are mixed as to whether the Tide will be able to make the CFP field. Here’s a look at bowl projections for Alabama from after Saturday’s games.

ESPN– College Football Playoff

Kyle Bonagura of the Worldwide Leader placed Alabama in the field of 12, at the No. 12 seed. His projection has the Crimson Tide traveling to Indiana to face the No. 5 Hoosiers.

IU remains undefeated, after blowing out Michigan State 47-10 on Saturday.

CBS Sports– College Football Playoff

Jerry Palm of CBS also put the Tide in the CFP field. He has UA traveling to face Penn State in a first-round game.

The Nittany Lions were ranked No. 3 nationally entering Saturday’s action, but fell to Ohio State at home.

247Sports– College Football Playoff

Brad Crawford put the Tide in his CFP field on Sunday. He sent Alabama to Ohio State for a first round game, with UA as the No. 11 seed.

Ohio State is ranked No. 3 in the coaches poll rankings after beating Penn State Saturday.

ESPN– Citrus Bowl

Mark Schlabach disagreed with his ESPN coworker, dropping Alabama outside of the CFP field. His projection sent Alabama to the Citrus Bowl, to face Iowa.

The Hawkeyes stand at 6-3 on the season after beating Wisconsin Saturday.
