The 2024 National Championship ended less than 24 hours ago, and sportsbooks have already released the 2025 National Championship and Heisman odds. Unsurprisingly, Alabama and Jalen Milroe are among the favorites in each college football future betting market.

2025 National Championship odds: Alabama (+550 or better)

In the 10-year history of the four-team format, no two-loss squad had ever qualified for the CFP. But with much harder conference schedules coming for the SEC and Big Ten, along with eight additional playoff berths up for grabs, that’s guaranteed to change.

This widens the margin of error for the Crimson Tide, who nearly missed the most recent CFP in favor of undefeated ACC Champion Florida State. Some of Alabama’s toughest matchups include a trip to Wisconsin, vs. Georgia, at Tennessee, vs. Missouri, at LSU, at Oklahoma, and vs. Auburn to close the year.

The Tide is losing a lot of talent to the NFL Draft, most notably Kool-Aid McKinstry, Terrion Arnold, Jermaine Burton, Jase McClellan, Dallas Turner, JC Latham, and Chris Braswell. At the time of writing, 16 players are entering the transfer portal, including Roydell Williams, Seth McLaughlin, and Malik Benson.

Losing talent to the NFL is common for programs of Alabama’s stature, and there should be no worries about Nick Saban re-tooling ahead of next season. As for the players lost to the transfer portal, most weren’t starters, so their absences won’t be felt as harshly as those joining the pros.

Losing McKinstry and Arnold is a hit to the Crimson Tide’s dominant secondary, but star freshman Caleb Downs will return, and Saban has already made moves to cover the departures. Alabama landed five-star CB Jaylen Mbakwe on signing day, and former five-star CB Domani Jackson is moving to Tuscaloosa after two years with USC.

Jalen Milroe, Deontae Lawson, Malachi Moore, and Isaiah Bond are among the key contributors coming back. Pairing those pivotal returnees with a recruiting class ranked second by 247Sports will put Alabama back in the hunt for a National Championship.

2024 Heisman Trophy odds: Jalen Milroe (+750 or better)

The former four-star recruit had gigantic shoes to fill in the succession of number-one overall pick Bryce Young. It took some time for the Texas native to develop, as he tossed four interceptions in the first half of the season.

Milroe was a one-trick pony early on, struggling with any throw that wasn’t a deep shot. But as the year progressed, Jalen improved greatly and had only two interceptions in the final eight games.

Jalen finished with 2,834 yards, 23 touchdowns, six interceptions, 531 rushing yards, and 12 touchdowns. His numbers should only improve in his second season as Alabama’s starter.

Bond’s return is crucial, as he will likely be Milroe’s WR1 in 2024. Bond caught 48 passes for 668 yards and four touchdowns. His best performance was a seven-catch, 96-yard day in College Station vs. Texas A&M.

Bond also caught the famous 4th-and-31 throw from Milroe when the Crimson Tide looked down and out in the late stages of the Iron Bowl.
