Alabama basketball national championship odds: Crimson Tide holding steady among top contenders
The Crimson Tide are off to a winning start on the hardwood, and that has the Alabama basketball national championship odds holding steady to where they were when the season began.
Alabama (7-2 SU, 4-5 ATS) has played a strong schedule and has victories over No. 25-ranked Illinois, No. 6 Houston, and No. 20 North Carolina. The No. 10-ranked Crimson Tide’s two losses are to No. 13 Purdue and undefeated Oregon, which rose to No. 12 in the rankings following the win over Alabama.
After Wednesday’s 94-79 win at North Carolina, the Tide are off until Dec. 14 when they host Creighton. That is plenty of time to determine if you’re ready to put some money on coach Nate Oats’ team to cut down the nets at the end of the Final Four. Let’s look closer at Alabama basketball national championship odds.

Alabama basketball national championship odds (+1300)
Sportsbook | Odds |
---|---|
DraftKings | +1300 |
BetMGM | +1400 |
Caesars | +1400 |
FanDuel | +1700 |
These odds have ticked down from where they were in the preseason but not by much. Without a drastic change in expectations early in the season based on questionable losses, big wins or major injuries, futures odds don’t move much.
The biggest change for Alabama’s national championship odds is that a few teams have inched ahead of them within the betting market. Alabama was between second and fifth on the odds boards, depending on which online sportsbook you viewed, when the season began. Now the Tide are between fourth and sixth.
Before the season, Alabama’s odds ranged from +1000 to +1500. Now they range from +1300 to +1700.
The biggest mover among the contenders has been Alabama’s hated rival Auburn. The Tigers are at the top of odds boards at all the best sports betting apps. They range from +850 to +1000. Alabama doesn’t face Auburn until Feb. 14.
Following the game against Creighton, Alabama has games against North Dakota, Kent State and South Dakota State. The Crimson Tide’s national championship odds likely will not move much during that stretch. If you plan to jump in, it would be wise to place a wager on this betting market before they open SEC play on Jan. 4 against No. 21 Oklahoma, which is currently undefeated.
Early returns are good for Crimson Tide basketball
There have been no surprises through the first 10 games. Sure, Alabama would like to win all its games, but that’s extremely difficult in today’s college basketball where parity reigns supreme.
The loss to No. 13 Purdue was not bad, as it came in a true road environment against the reigning national runners-up. Oregon was not ranked when Alabama lost that game on Saturday, but the Ducks quickly debuted as the No. 12-ranked team this week.
The Ducks (9-0) beat ranked teams Texas A&M and San Diego State before beating Alabama. They will be a contender to win the Big Ten Conference.
Alabama’s wins over No. 25 Illinois and No. 6 Houston in back-to-back games were strong and proved that the Tide deserve to be in the national championship conversation.
The usual suspects are leading Alabama with Wooden Award contender Mark Sears averaging a team-best 16 points and 3.6 assists per game. Sears is doing that despite a .288 3-point shooting percentage. His career 3-point percentage coming into this season was .400, so his numbers likely will improve as the season progresses.
Another leading returner, Grant Nelson averages 13.5 points and a team-best 7.3 rebounds per game.
The most concerning development for Alabama is Latrell Wrightsell Jr.’s injury. He ruptured his Achilles tendon in the loss to Oregon and will miss the remainder of the season.
Wrightsell led the team in 3-point shooting last season and picked up where he left off for this season. He is third on the team with 11.5 points per game and first with a 3-point percentage of .422.
