Alabama basketball lands former Florida State starter in transfer portal

Alabama basketball landed its second addition of the current transfer portal window on Friday. Taylor Bol Bowen, previously at Florida State, will join the Crimson Tide, he shared on social media.

Bol Bowen gives Alabama a height injection, at 6-foot-10, 195 pounds. The forward averaged 8 points and 5.2 rebounds per game last season for the Seminoles.

He spent two seasons at Florida State. Head coach Leonard Hamilton resigned from FSU at the conclusion of the 2024-25 season.

Bol Bowen became a starter as a sophomore for the Seminoles. He averaged 3.1 points and 2.6 rebounds playing 11 minutes per game his freshman season.

Bol Bowen joined Noah Williamson as incoming transfers for Alabama during the current portal entry window. Williamson joined up after beginning his college career at Bucknell.

So far, just one Alabama player from the 2024-25 roster has opted to enter the transfer portal. Naas Cunningham will depart Tuscaloosa after redshirting his freshman year with the Tide, never seeing the court in a game.

Alabama’s 2024-25 season came to an end in the Elite Eight, where UA lost to Duke. The Crimson Tide had sailed through the first two rounds of the tournament, before riding a historic three-point shooting performance to victory in the Sweet 16 over BYU.

In addition to Cunningham, Alabama is losing Mark Sears, Grant Nelson, Cliff Omoruyi and Chris Youngblood, all of whom are out of eligibility. The current transfer portal entry window is open through April 22.
