Alabama basketball lands commitment from top-50 forward Naas Cunningham
The 2023-24 Alabama men’s basketball campaign just started Monday, but head coach Nate Oats and company haven’t stopped building the roster for next year. On Tuesday, the Crimson Tide landed a commitment from Naas Cunningham, a small forward in the class of 2024.
Cunningham announced his commitment in an Instagram post.
Cunningham will join the Tide from Southern California Academy as a four-star prospect on the 247Sports composite. He chose the Tide over officer from Arkansas, Kentucky, Indiana and Duke among others.
He originally hails from West Orange, N.J. and stands 6-foot-7. He weighs in at 180 pounds.
Cunningham is listed as the No. 42 player nationally in his class according to the 247 composite. He was ranked as the No. 11 small forward in the 2024 class.
The forward became the second commitment in Alabama’s 2024 recruiting class. He joined five-star center Aiden Sherrell, who also will be coming to Tuscaloosa from California.
Cunningham’s addition to the group moved Alabama’s 2024 class to No. 21 nationally on the 247 composite. The Crimson Tide falls behind Missouri (No. 2 nationally) and one spot ahead of Kentucky (No. 22) in the SEC for that class.
Alabama started the current season Monday with a 105-73 win over Morehead State.The Crimson Tide will next play Friday at Coleman Coliseum against Indiana State.
The game is scheduled to tip off at 7 p.m. CT and will be aired on SEC Network+.
