Alabama basketball lands award-winning transfer portal forward commitment

Alabama basketball landed a transfer portal commitment on Wednesday. The Crimson Tide locked down former Tarleton State forward Keitenn Bristow.

“Built by grit, driven by heart,” Bristow said in a social media post announcing the news. “I’m all in. Roll Tide, let’s make history.”

Bristow averaged 11.3 points per game for Tarleton during the 2024-25 season. He also chipped in 4.3 rebounds per game.

The 6-foot-8, 190-pound forward entered the transfer portal following his freshman season with the Texans. He was named the WAC’s freshman of the year at the conclusion of the campaign.

Bristow was a three-star recruit coming out of high school. 247Sports maintained that as his transfer portal ranking as well.

Tarleton State suffered through a woeful year, finishing 12-20. The season ended with a loss to Cal Baptist in the first round of the WAC tournament.

Bristow played his high school basketball at Holliday in Texas. He had recruiting interest from the likes of Missouri State, Arizona State and Morehead State, according to 247Sports.

He became the fourth player Alabama has taken a commitment from out of the transfer portal this offseason. Bristow joined Noah Williamson from Bucknell, Taylor Bol Bowen from Florida State and Jalil Bethea from Miami.

Alabama will have to replace a fair amount of talent from its 2024-25 Elite Eight team. Mark Sears, Grant Nelson, Cliff Omoruyi and Chris Youngblood are all out of eligibility, and Labaron Philon entered his name in the NBA Draft, though he could still opt to return.

When the transfer portal opened, the Crimson Tide lost Naas Cunningham (committed to UNLV), Mo Dioubate (Kentucky), Jarin Stevenson (North Carolina) and Derrion Reid. Nate Oats and company are bringing in three freshman next season, in addition to the transfer portal haul.

Alabama fell short of its Final Four goal this past season, falling to Duke in the Elite Eight.
