Alabama basketball is in need of at least one forward or center next season. According to recent reports, Nate Oats and co. could be in line to add a pair.

Creighton big Arthur Kaluma will visit Tuscaloosa next week, according to ESPN’s Jeff Borzello. Kaluma, a 6-foot-7 sophomore, averaged 11.8 points and 6.0 rebounds per game. He’s also visited Kansas State and Kentucky.

Kaluma was a top 50 prospect per 247Sports’ ratings in the class of 2021. He was the highest-rated player to ever commit to Creighton head coach Greg McDermott. Kaluma also has spent two summers with the Ugandan national team in the FIBA Basketball World Cup qualifiers and AfroBasket.

Another highly-coveted recruit is also reportedly close to a decision. North Dakota State transfer Grant Nelson will commit either Sunday or Monday, per On3′s Joe Tipton. Nelson, listed at 6-foot-11 and was an All-Summit first-team selection, has been a consistent piece of NDSU’s roster after being named the state’s Mr. Basketball in 2020.

Nelson visited Arkansas and Alabama last week and figures to be a game-changer on both ends of the floor for whichever program he picks. As a junior, Nelson averaged 17.9 points and 9.3 rebounds a game with 50 total blocks. In his career, Nelson is a 30.7%-shooter from 3-point range.

Kaluma or Nelson should help the Crimson Tide restock its frontcourt after the departures of Noah Clowney and Charles Bediako to the NBA Draft and Noah Gurley to graduation.

The Tide has just two forwards listed on its current roster, Nick Pringle and walk-on Max Scharnowski. Sam Walters and Mouhamed Dioubate, members of Alabama’s 2023 class, should fill out the rotation.
