Alabama basketball announces Final Four banner reveal event
Nate Oats and Alabama basketball went to the Final Four for the first time in program history to end the 2023-24 season. In October, the Crimson Tide will celebrate even more.
UA Athletics announced on Thursday that it will host an event Oct. 11 at Coleman Coliseum to honor the Final Four team. The Tide will unveil its banner commemorating the achievement during that time.
Alabama will also introduce its 2024-25 squad during the event, which will include a dunk contest and three-point competition, along with a scrimmage. The first 2,000 fans in attendance will take home a replica Final Four banner and poster.
The event is being hosted in conjunction with Yea Alabama. Tickets are available for $10 through Alabama athletics, and students will get in free.
It’s scheduled to begin at 8:30 p.m. CT, with doors opening at 7:30 p.m.
Alabama took an unlikely route to the Final Four last season. After going one-and-done in the SEC tournament, UA earned a No. 4 seed for March Madness, beginning its journey with a win over Charleston in Spokane.
The Crimson Tide beat Grand Canyon, earning a trip to Los Angeles to play in the Sweet Sixteen, where it dispatched No. 1 seed North Carolina. Oats’ group then avenged a regular season loss to Clemson in the Elite Eight.
Alabama matched up with eventual national champion UConn in the Final Four, falling in the semifinals. After the season, Oats stayed with the Crimson Tide, earning a pledge from UA athletics to build the team a new practice facility.
The Tide will open its 2024-25 season with high expectations after several key contributors from the Final Four team opted to return, including Mark Sears and Grant Nelson. Alabama begins the campaign on Nov. 4 against North Carolina-Asheville in Tuscaloosa, though it will play a charity game in Huntsville on Oct. 28.
