Alabama, Auburn players tussle in NFL game, get ejected

Derrick Brown and Cam Robinson never really got properly introduced in the Iron Bowl. Brown was a freshman defensive lineman for Auburn in Robinson’s final season, when the left tackle won the Outland Trophy and helped Alabama take a 30-12 victory over the Tigers in their annual rivalry game in 2016.

On Sunday, they got more closely acquainted in their first NFL meeting.

After a 4-yard run by Jacksonville Jaguars running back Tank Bigsby (another Auburn alumnus), Brown and Robinson got into a tussle on the field.

The left tackle for the Jaguars, Robinson got his helmet pulled off. The Carolina Panthers’ top defensive lineman, Brown got his helmet pulled off, too, and it ended up about 20 yards down the field.

The officials disqualified both players with 5:03 left in Jacksonville’s 26-0 victory.

Robinson was returning from a four-game stay on injured reserve because of a knee injury.

Brown left the game tied for the team lead with eight tackles.
