Alabama at LSU by the numbers: Kalen DeBoer tries to follow Gene Stallings, not Nick Saban

No. 11 Alabama (6-2, 3-2) at No. 15 LSU (6-2, 3-1)

6:30 p.m. CST Saturday (ABC)

The most recent Alabama coach to win in his first meeting with LSU was Gene Stallings, who guided the Tide to a 24-3 victory over the Tigers on Nov. 10, 1990. Since then, LSU defeated Mike DuBose 27-0 on Nov. 8, 1997, Dennis Franchione 35-21 on Nov. 3, 2001, Mike Shula 27-3 on Nov. 15, 2003, and Nick Saban 41-34 on Nov. 3, 2007. 4 Games among the past 216 at Tiger Stadium have included no points for LSU. All the shutouts were administered by Alabama. Since a 20-0 loss to Tennessee on Oct. 3, 1992, in Baton Rouge, LSU has failed to score at home against Alabama in 2002, 2012, 2016 and 2018.

4 Rushing TDs for Alabama QB Jalen Milroe in a 42-28 victory over LSU last season, the most in one game for a Crimson Tide quarterback. Milroe ran for 155 yards and threw for 219 against the Tigers in 2023. Milroe has 12 rushing TDs this season, the same number that he had last season. That’s one short of the school single-season record for a quarterback established by Jalen Hurts in 2016 with 13.

After No. 12 Alabama defeated LSU 23-17 on Nov. 6, 1999, the Tide lost to the Tigers while unranked in 2000, 2001, 2003, 2004 and 2006 before the loss in 2007.
