Alabama and Missouri men’s basketball game still scheduled as snow shuts down UA

The University of Alabama will “suspend normal operations” on Tuesday as inclement weather impacts the state.

Snow and freezing rain have been reported throughout the morning. The National Weather Service advised for the coldest temperatures in “decades”, encouraging Alabamians to only travel if necessary.

According to UA, Tuesday’s men’s basketball game between the Tide and Missouri will go on as planned. As explained in a press release:

“Fans are strongly encouraged to use caution and check the latest local weather and road conditions before traveling to campus. Athletics will provide additional details to season ticket holders and students regarding parking and seating for tonight’s game.”

A UA athletics department spokesperson confirmed to AL.com that the school will continue to monitor the weather ahead of the 6 p.m. tipoff. The Tide is 11-5 and undefeated in conference play.

An Alabama football prospective walk-on meeting was postponed to Wednesday, Jan. 17.
