Alabama and Auburn softball both set to compete in Clearwater Invitational in 2025
Both the Alabama Crimson Tide and Auburn Tigers’ softball programs will compete in the Shriners Children’s Clearwater Invitational early next season, ESPN announced Thursday during its Women’s College World Series broadcast.
Alabama and Auburn are set to be two teams in the 16-team invitational, which is said to be college softball’s premier regular-season event.
The four-day event, which will be in its sixth year, is set to run from February 13-16, 2025 and will also feature Charlotte, Clemson, FSU, Kentucky, Liberty, Missouri, Ohio State, Oklahoma State, San Diego State, Texas A&M, UCF, UCLA, Virginia and Wichita State.
Of that field, three teams will be coming off Women’s College World Series appearances as Alabama, Oklahoma State and UCLA all punched their ticket to Oklahoma City in 2024.
In 2024, the Clearwater Invitational was the home to 40 games — 22 of which were televised.
The event schedule and opponent pairings will be released later this fall.
