Alabama among per-capita leaders for NFL Draft picks
NFL teams chose nine prospects in last week’s draft who played at Alabama high schools. That tied Alabama’s high schools for seventh among the states for pro prospects produced.
But considered on a per-capita basis, Alabama ranked fourth for NFL Draft talent, according to the NFL.
The players from Alabama high schools chosen in the 2025 NFL Draft included:
- Florida defensive back Trikweze Bridges (Lanett): No. 256 by the Los Angeles Chargers
- Arizona running back Jacory Croskey-Merritt (Sidney Lanier): No. 245 by the Washington Commanders
- Florida outside linebacker Shemar James (Faith Academy): No. 152 by the Dallas Cowboys
- Oregon wide receiver Tez Johnson (Pinson Valley): No. 235 by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Texas high schools had the most former players chosen with 37, followed by Florida with 26, Georgia with 22, California 16 and Louisiana and Virginia with 10 apiece. Alabama was tied with Michigan and South Carolina.
The per-capita rankings had Louisiana at the top followed by Georgia, Montana (which produced two players), Alabama and South Carolina.
The per-capita production for Alabama was one draft pick for every 558,253 people. The rate for the entire nation was one for every 1.3 million people.
The only high school to produce more than two picks was IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. Both the first-round picks from Alabama – guard Tyler Booker and linebacker Jihaad Campbell – attended IMG. Booker is from Connecticut, and Campbell is from New Jersey.
