Alabama alumnus signs with Blue Bombers
Alabama alumnus Kendall Randolph has signed with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, the Canadian Football League team announced on Thursday.
An All-State offensive lineman at Bob Jones High School in Madison in 2016, Randolph spent six seasons at Alabama, where he played tight end, guard and offensive tackle. Winnipeg listed Randolph as an offensive tackle in its announcement.
Randolph started 16 games while at Alabama, including six at tight end for the undefeated CFP national-championship team for the 2020 season.
Randolph signed with the Seattle Seahawks as an undrafted rookie on May 12. But after going through the offseason program, training camp and preseason games with the NFL team, Randolph was waived by Seattle on Aug. 29 in the roster reduction to the regular-season limit, and he did not play during the 2023 season.
CFL teams open training camps in May. Winnipeg will kick off its regular-season schedule on June 6 with a home game against the Montreal Alouettes in a rematch of last season’s Grey Cup.
The Blue Bombers went 14-4 in 2023 to win the CFL West Division regular-season crown. Winnipeg defeated the British Columbia Lions 24-13 in the Western Final but fell to Montreal 28-24 in the CFL championship game.
