Valley police say a 2-year-old died after what is believed to be an accidental shooting early Sunday morning.

The incident happened at about 2 a.m. in the 2000 block of Calgary Crescent, according to WRBL.

A child found with a single gunshot wound was flown to Piedmont Hospital in Columbus, where he died.

Investigators believe the child accidentally shot himself after finding an unsecured firearm in the house.

According to police, the mother and another child were asleep in the apartment at the time.

No charges have been filed.
