AL.comâs SEC football players of the week for Week 6
Here are AL.com’s SEC football players of the week for Week 6 of the 2023 season:
Offense
Jayden Daniels, QB, LSU — Daniels shook off injury and had another brilliant day in a 49-39 win at previously unbeaten Missouri. The senior from San Bernardino, Calif., completed 15 of 21 passes for 259 yards and three touchdowns, and also ran for 130 yards on 15 carries, including a 35-yard touchdown run that gave the Tigers their first lead of the game midway through the fourth quarter.
Defense
Edgerrin Cooper, LB, Texas A&M — The Aggies lost 26-20 to Alabama, but it was certainly no fault of Cooper’s. The junior from Covington, La., was all but unblockable, totaling 11 tackles, three sacks and three tackles for loss and forcing a fumble. The Crimson Tide recovered the fumble, but Texas A&M got an interception on the next play.
Special teams
Will Reichard, K/P, Alabama — Reichard made his lone field goal attempt and all three extra points in a 26-20 win over Texas A&M, but showed his versatility when teammate James Burnip left the game due to injury. The senior from Hoover punted in a game for the first time since 2020, averaging 41.2 yards on four attempts, with three of them resulting in fair catches.
