AL.com Power 25 HS Rankings: New No. 1 headed into semifinals

Central-Phenix City moved back into the No. 1 spot in this week’s AL.com Power 25 rankings of the top high school football programs in Alabama.

The undefeated Red Devils defeated Mary G. Montgomery 21-7 in the Class 7A semifinals last week and will face Thompson in the championship game on Dec. 6. Patrick Nix’s team finished one point ahead of Class 6A Saraland, which remained unbeaten with a 31-21 win over Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa.

The Spartans’ next opponent, Pike Road, jumped into the Top 25 this week after a tight win over Benjamin Russell. Class 5A Guntersville also moved into the rankings after beating Pleasant Grove.
