AHSAA volleyball regionals: Class 6A, 5A, 4A, 1A teams earn spots in state tournament
Teams from four classes earned spots in the AHAA volleyball state championship tournament after the first day of super regional play.
Four teams from each class in two regionals – South in Montgomery and North in Huntsville – won two rounds of play, assuring a spot in next week’s state tournament. Class 6A, Class 5A, Class 4A and Class 1A will continue play in semifinal action on Thursday to determine seeding for the state tournament.
Class 7A, Class 3A and Class 2A begin play on Thursday with eight teams from each class advancing.
In Class 6A North action, Hartselle, Oxford, Mountain Brook and Hazel Green won to the semifinal round while Northridge, Bayside, Spanish Fort and Pelham advanced in South play.
Class 5A Arab, Lawrence County, Jasper and Westminster Christian advanced in North play and Montgomery Academy, Providence Christian, Faith Academy and Gulf Shores won to South semifinal action.
Class 4A Deshler, West Morgan, Priceville and Madison County won in North play and Satsuma, Montgomery Catholic, Trinity and Orange Beach are still playing in the South regional.
Class 1A Spring Garden, Addison, Meek and Covenant Christian are North winners while University Charter, Brantley, Pleasant Home and Kinston advanced to South semifinal action.
