AHSAA semifinals: Reeltown, Fyffe & Coosa Christian win
CLASS 2A SEMIFINALS
Reeltown 31, B.B. Comer 28
Reeltown’s Gaines Tapley kicked a 24-yard field goal on the game’s final play at Legion Field in Sylacauga, lifting the Rebels to a 31-28 victory over B.B. Comer in the Class 2A semifinals.
It appeared time ran out and the game was headed to overtime, but officials put 1 second on the clock to set up Tapley’s winning kick, which hit the right upright and bounced through.
The victory sends Reeltown (13-0) into the 2A championship game, set for Friday at 3 p.m., at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa against Fyffe (13-1). It’s Reeltown’s first trip to the Super 7 since 2019. B.B. Comer (13-1) was trying to return to the 2A championship game after finishing runner-up to Fyffe in 2022.

The teams played to a 28-all tie. Reeltown got two touchdowns from Tae Martin, one on a reception and a 48-yard run. Arthur Cole scored on runs of 1 and 23 yards, and he tied it at 28-all when he dove over the pile for his 1-yard TD run in the fourth quarter.
For B.B. Comer, Devin Harvey scored on a 19-yard run and threw a 40-yard TD pass to Richard Weed.
Fyffe 32, Pisgah 14
Fyffe is making another trip to the Super 7.
The Red Devils defeated Pisgah 32-14, thanks to Logan Anderson running 34 times for 229 yards and three touchdowns, on Friday night at Paul Benefield Stadium in the Class 2A semifinals. It’s the second time the Red Devils defeated Pisgah this season, having won 56-42 earlier in October.
Fyffe (13-1), the defending Class 2A champ, will make its eighth Super 7 appearance in the last 10 seasons when the Red Devils play in Friday’s championship game at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa. Fyffe won state titles in 2014, 2016, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2022 during the last decade.
Fyffe played all of its four playoff games at home this season, and the Red Devils have won 13 straight games after falling to Geraldine in the season opener.
CLASS 1A SEMIFINAL
Coosa Christian 21, Pickens County 12
Coosa Christian earned a 21-12 victory over Pickens County in the Class 1A semifinals, sending the Conquerors (9-5) to the Super 7 for the first time in school history.
Coosa Christian advances to play defending 1A champ Leroy in the title game on Thursday at 3 p.m., at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa.
Coosa Christian got a 4-yard touchdown run by Joshua Hester, a 14-yard TD run by Kanon Wilson and a 1-yard TD run by John David Justus. Justus’ score early in the fourth quarter made it 21-6.
Pickens County’s Kemaurion Plott scored on a 4-yard run late in the fourth quarter to make it 21-12, but the Tornadoes could get no closer. Plott also threw a 73-yard TD pass to Santonio Jones in the first half.
Pickens County (10-4) fell one game shy of getting a rematch with Leroy after falling to the Bears in the championship game in 2022.
Coosa Christian had never won an AHSAA playoff game before 2022, with coach Mark O’Bryant leading the Conquerors to the semifinals year and now into the championship round.
