Due to an error in the holdback/promotion portion of the ADM data reported from the Alabama State Department of Education, AHSAA has made adjustments to the 2024-2026 reclassification announced on Monday.

After ALSDE re-computed the data and confirmed an error had occurred, AHSAA corrected the classification of four schools: Brooks, Anniston, J.B. Pennington and Winfield.

Brooks and Anniston, which were originally placed in Class 5A, have been reassigned to Class 4A while J.B. Pennington and Winfield, originally placed in Class 4A, have been reassigned to Class 3A.

“The ALSDE regrets the error and we apologize to our member schools,” said AHSAA Executive Director Alvin Briggs.

The changes also affect several region lineups in Class 5A, Class 4A and Class 3A in football, volleyball and cross country. Alignments for flag football and swimming & diving were not affected.

The Central Board of Control met virtually Tuesday and approved the modifications.
