Sparkman High School took a 9-point lead over Daphne after the first day of competition at the 2023 AHSAA Girls’ Wrestling Tourney. The Senators totaled 179 points and the Trojans had 170 as all weight divisions wrestled down to the finals at Thompson High School on Thursday.

The championship matches are set for Friday at Bill Harris Arena at the Birmingham CrossPlex. All finals will be live-streamed over the NFHS Network. The girls’ finals will be held alongside the AHSAA Boys’ Wrestling Duals finals.

Sparkman has three wrestlers in the finals with senior Akerah Artis (30-0) meeting Montgomery Catholic senior Charlotte Parker (16-2) in the 145-pound finals.

Junior Reagan Grant (24-2) takes on Arab junior Autumn Boutwell (17-5) in the 152-pound championship match. Unbeatens will meet in the 185-pound finals as Sparkman’s Joy Hawkins (24-0) battles Pinson Valley’s Aniyah Griffin (34-0).

Daphne also has three wrestlers in the finals: eighth-grader Alanah Girard (37-2) in the 100-pound finals, unbeaten sophomore Kalyse Hill (34-0) in the 132-pound championship match and junior Kaylee Holder (23-0) in the 165-pound title match.
