The field is set for the AHSAA volleyball Elite Eight state championship tournament after the second day of super regional play.

Eight teams from each of seven classes advance to next week’s state championship tournament in Birmingham.

Thursday regional play in Montgomery (South) and Huntsville (North) determined seeding in Class 6A, Class 5A, Class 3A and Class 2A while 24 qualifiers earned Elite Eight spots in Class 7A, Class 4A and Class 1A with seeding matches to be played on Friday.

Super regional winners were Class 6A Mountain Brook (North), Saraland (South), Class 5A Alexandria (North), Montgomery Academy (South), Class 3A Plainview (North), Mobile Christian (South) and Class 2A Pleasant Valley (North) and G.W. Long (South).

Class 7A qualifiers are Spain Park, Hoover, Thompson and Bob Jones from the North while defending champion McGill-Toolen, Auburn, St. Paul’s and Enterprise qualified in South play.

Class 4A North qualifiers are Corner, Deshler, Madison County and Cherokee County with defending champion Montgomery Catholic, LAMP, T.R. Miller and UMS-Wright from the South.

Class 1A defending champion Addison, Spring Garden, Sumiton Christian and Athens Bible qualified from the North while South qualifiers are Sweet Water, Faith Christian, University Charter and Elba.

In next week’s state championship tournament South No. 1 plays North No. 4, North No. 2 plays South No. 3, North No. 1 plays South No. 4 and South No. 2 plays North No. 3.
