Afternoon shooting in east Birmingham neighborhood under investigation

An investigation is underway after a man was shot in east Birmingham Monday.

The shooting happened shortly before 2 p.m. in the 7800 block of Fourth Avenue South.

Police radio communications indicated the victim was struck three times.

Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service Lt. Catina Williams said the victim was shot in the leg and the finger.

He was taken to UAB Hospital in stable condition. Williams said he is in his mid-40s.
