Afternoon gunfire in Fairfield leaves 2 teens wounded

Gunfire erupted in Fairfield Saturday afternoon, leaving two teens injured.

The shooting happened just before 4 p.m. in the 800 block of 40th Place.

Jefferson County sheriff’s Lt. Joni Money said one of the teens is a juvenile, the other is over the age of 17.

Both victims were taken to UAB Hospital. Money said their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

No arrests have been made.

The shooting happened within 24 hours of a Friday shooting in Fairfield that left a man dead. That shooting happened in the 600 block of Jerry D. Coleman Street.
