After an 0-2 week on the road, where do bracketologists place Auburn basketball?

After going 0-2 in its two road games last week, Auburn enters the last week of January with an average projection as a No. 3 seed for the NCAA Tournament according to the Bracket Matrix, a collection of dozens of March Madness bracket predictions.

Auburn’s average seed rates at 3.41 as of Monday morning with its highest projection as a No. 2 seed and lowest projection as a No. 7 seed.

Auburn is 16-4 overall this season and 5-2 in SEC play.

Looking at some of the high-profile bracketology articles, ESPN’s Joe Lunardi lists Auburn as a No. 3 seed in its latest picks, facing Johni Broome’s previous school of Morehead State. ESPN’s most recent update came before Auburn’s loss Saturday against Mississippi State

CBS Sports projects Auburn as a No. 5 seed updated as of Monday morning, facing in-state foe Samford in the first round.

Fox Sports had Auburn as a No. 5 seed as well, facing Indiana State in the first round.

Auburn’s resume at this point does not have any overtly bad losses. The Dec. 3 loss in a true road game against Appalachian State is currently Auburn’s worst one and it comes two spots in the NET rankings away from being a Quad 1 loss.

However, Auburn does not have any Quad 1 wins to hang its resume on.

Auburn is 0-3 in Quad 1 games this season and has not played a Quad 1 game at Neville Arena. That includes each of Auburn’s two road losses this week which were Quad 1 games — meaning facing a team in a true road game in the top 75 of the NET ratings.
