Aersosmith postpones farewell concerts due to âheartbrokenâ Steven Tylerâs damaged vocal cords
Aerosmith’s Farewell Tour will extend into February while frontman Steven Tyler recovers from vocal cord damage.
The lead singer of Aerosmith announced Monday night that the band is being forced to reschedule six of their upcoming concerts.
“I’m heartbroken to say I have received strict doctor’s orders not to sing for the next 30 days,” Tyler said in a statement. “I sustained vocal cord damage during Saturday’s show that led to subsequent bleeding. We’ll need to postpone a few dates so that we can come back and give you the performance you deserve.”
The affected shows and the new dates are:
- Toronto: Sept. 12 show rescheduled for Feb. 21 at Scotiabank Arena
- Chicago: Sept. 15 show rescheduled for Feb. 14 at United Center
- Detroit: Sept. 18 show rescheduled for Jan. 28 at Little Caesars Arena
- Cleveland, Ohio: Sept. 21 show rescheduled for Feb. 29 at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse
- Raleigh, N.C.: Sept. 24 show rescheduled for Feb. 26 at PNC Arena
- Washington, D.C.: Sept. 27 show rescheduled for Feb. 17 at Capital One Arena
Tickets will be honored for the new dates, and refunds will be available for those unavailable for th e new dates.
Aerosmith’s “Peace Out” tour just began Sept. 2. Forty dates are scheduled, including Charlotte on Oct. 17 at Spectrum Center. The Black Crowes are the opening act.
Aerosmith, which most recently performed at a Las Vegas residency, formed 50 years ago and is known for hits like “Dream On,” “Crazy,” “Janie’s Got A Gun,” “Livin’ On The Edge,” and “Love In An Elevator.”
