Aden Holloway earns 5-star status, becomes Auburn’s No. 2 all-time recruit
Aden Holloway is officially a five-star recruit — and the second-highest rated signee in Auburn program history.
The 6-foot-1, 165-pounder was elevated to five-star status in the final 2023 rankings for 247Sports, which was enough to bump him up from a highly rated four-star prospect to a five-star recruit in the 247Sports Composite rankings for the class. Holloway is rated as a five-star prospect by two of the four major scouting services (247 and ESPN), while Rivals and On3 have him as a high four-star prospect.

Four Auburn players among NBA Draft’s early entrants
Holloway is now listed as the No. 17 overall player in the 2023 class and the third-best point guard in the country, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.
Holloway’s elevation in the overall rankings makes him the fourth five-star high school signee in program history, joining Jabari Smith, Sharife Cooper and Yohan Traore. All four of those players signed with Auburn under Bruce Pearl, who is now responsible for landing each of the nine highest-rated prospects in school history and 11 of the 12 highest-rated high school signees.
Holloway’s overall composite rating of 0.9931 makes him the second-highest rated signee in program history. Only Jabari Smith (0.9980), who went on to become a consensus All-American and win National Freshman of the Year before being selected third overall in the 2022 NBA Draft, was rated higher coming out of high school.
As a senior at Prolific Prep, Holloway earned McDonald’s All-America honors and posted 15 points, two rebounds, two assists and three steals in that game while playing alongside and against the nation’s top high school seniors.
He’s one of three new additions, so far, for Auburn’s 2023-24 roster and the only incoming freshman set to join the Tigers next season. Auburn is also welcoming FIU transfer guard Denver Jones and UAH transfer forward Chaney Johnson to the fold as part of a retooled roster as the Tigers eye a run toward a third consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance.
