ADEM providing $5.8 million to support beleaguered Prichard Water and Sewer System

The Alabama Department of Environmental Management announced Wednesday it is providing the court-appointed receiver of the beleaguered Prichard Water and Sewer System $5.8 million to help jump-start the process toward addressing serious problems plaguing the system.

The money will go toward a mounting list of infrastructure needs for a system plagued with years of crumbling pipes, rising water bills and corruption.
