Adamsville police officer charged with public intoxication, trespassing in Jasper

An Adamsville police officer is on leave after his weekend arrest in Jasper.

Officer Joey Darty, 41, is charged with public intoxication and third-degree criminal trespassing, according to Jasper police.

Darty’s arrest happened at 2:28 a.m. Sunday at 2004 Birmingham Avenue in Jasper. He was released from the Jasper City Jail at 7:23 p.m. Sunday.

Efforts to obtain a mugshot were unsuccessful.

Adamsville police Chief Chris Robinson said Darty has been placed on paid administrative leave pending a hearing.

The chief said Darty was off duty at the time of the incident.

Darty was a former sergeant with the Jasper Police Department.
