Adam Winegarden leaving Tuscaloosa County to join Troy University staff

Veteran high school football coach Adam Winegarden is leaving Tuscaloosa County to join Gerad Parker’s first staff at Troy University.

The news was first reported by Patch.com. Troy also announced the hire.

Winegarden will be Troy’s director of leadership and high school relations.

Winegarden has a 131-55 overall record in 16 years as a head coach overall. He spent the last three years at Tuscaloosa County, accumulating a 12-18 record.

He’s also been head coach at Dalton, Ga. (2008-2009), Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa (2010-2011), Fairhope (2012-2014) and Auburn High (2015-2020). He led Auburn to a 12-2 record and the Class 7A title game in 2020.
