ABC television feed cut off during Auburn basketball’s game vs. Kentucky
Following the Auburn vs. Kentucky basketball game, ABC was scheduled to show the Boston Bruins take on the Pittsburgh Penguins in NHL action.
For the audience looking to see hockey instead of hoops, they got an early start.
The ABC broadcast of Auburn men’s basketball’s game against Kentucky was cut off during the second half Saturday.
The feed showed a blue screen at the 12:25 mark of the second half with Auburn leading Kentucky 68-52. Auburn went on to win the game 94-78, clinching a share of the SEC regular season title, their first since 2022, and beating Kentucky in Rupp Arena for the first time since 1988.
The network first cut to commercials and then back to the ESPN studio, before cutting to NHL on ABC coverage while the game was still going on. The stream also became unavailable on the ESPN app.
Kentucky released a statement about the incident on X (formerly Twitter) that was reposted by the Southeastern Conference.
“We’re aware of the technical difficulties ABC is experiencing broadcasting today’s @kentuckymbb game,” the statement read. “They’re working to restore the broadcast as soon as possible.”
Other fans and people on social media also reacted to the cut.
