A piece of Jimmy Buffett history hits the market

An out-of-town buyer paid $350,00 for a 5,500-square-foot warehouse on 5 acres on Bobby Lowe Road in Theodore and plans to use the land for a salvage yard, according to Pete Riehm of CRE Mobile.

A Midtown Mobile property where singer songwriter Jimmy Buffett recorded his first songs has been listed for sale, according to Crawford Stitt of White-Spunner Realty. The property at 1916 Airport Blvd., was home to Product Sound Studio in the 1970s and where Buffett recorded two songs, “Don’t Bring Me Candy,’’ and “Abandon On Tuesday.’’ Both songs were released in 1970. The building was later occupied by Cantrell’s Photography and in 2013 a tornado destroyed the building on Christmas Day. It’s since been replaced and the two-story building is listed for sale for $650,000. The site has been a popular sightseeing stop for Parrot heads or loyal Buffett music fans. Buffett passed away last month.

Cornerstone Family Chiropractic has leased 3,000 square feet of space in Foley Plaza Shopping Center on S. McKenzie Street in Foley and plans to open early next year, according to Robert Cook of Vallas Realty.

The law firm of McPhail Sanchez LLC has leased the entire 4th floor of the Waterman-Smith building at 61 St. Joseph St., in downtown Mobile, according to Josh W. Hall of CRE Mobile, who represented the landlord. McPhail Sanchez was represented by David Kahalley of Shamrock Properties. The firm will relocate from their office on Government Street next month. The Waterman-Smith building is a 70,000-square-foot office complex built in 1947 by and for the Waterman Steamship Corp.

The new Publix grocery store under construction in Paradise Isle Shopping Center at 1720 Gulf Shores Parkway in Gulf Shores is expected to open in mid-2024. The store will replace the former Winn-Dixie store, which was demolished. There will be more than 10,000 square feet of leasable space at the center.
