‘Survivor’ season 45 premiere: How to watch, where to live stream

Jeff Probst is back with an all new season of Survivor set to premiere on CBS Wednesday, Sept. 27 at 8/7c.

Season 45 of Survivor will once again take place in the islands of Fiji for its thirteenth consecutive season where 18 new contestants will vie for the title of Sole Survivor over the course of 26 days. Each player will have the same goal in order to win the $1 million prize: To outwit, outplay and outlast the other contestants.

Although the number of days in which the competition takes place has been cut from 39 days to 26 in recent seasons, Survivor 45 gives fans much to be excited about as it will consist of much longer 90-minute episodes. The longer runtime for each episode will also result in more creative challenges throughout the season, according to CBS.

Where can I watch Survivor season 45?

The season 45 premiere of Survivor will be available to live steam on Wednesday via FuboTV, DirecTV Stream and Paramount+ with Showtime.

All three streaming services offer free trials for new subscribers with the option to cancel anytime before the trial period ends, so you can watch the season premiere for free before committing to anything.

What is FuboTV?

FuboTV is meant for those looking for an alternative to basic cable.

FuboTV considers itself a sports-focused live streaming service, but overall, its standard package comes with over 100 live TV channels for $74.99 a month after its free trial. These channels include ESPN, ABC, NBC, CBS, TLC, MTV and much more.

FuboTV also comes with a variety of shows and movies users can watch on-demand along with the option to record your favorite TV shows.

What is DirecTV Stream?

DirecTV Stream is similar to FuboTV in that it offers many of the same channels and features. At $74.99 a month after its free trial, the base package comes with a little over 75 live TV channels.

Those interested can check out all of DirecTV Stream’s channel packages here.

What is Paramount+ with Showtime?

The Paramount+ with Showtime bundle costs users $11.99 per month and has replaced Paramount+’s premium ad-free plan, which was $9.99.

Although not a live streaming service, Paramount+ allows premium subscribers to live stream certain content and specials as it premieres on regular television (such as new episodes of Survivor).

Paramount+ Essential subscribers will not have the option to live stream new episodes of Survivor, but can stream it on-demand the day after they premiere.

How does Survivor work?

According to Britannica, the Survivor format involves a group of usually 16 to 20 contestants who are sequestered in a remote, exotic location and compete for a cash prize. They are initially divided into two teams (“tribes”) and are expected to survive (build shelter, find food, etc.) with a minimal number of tools.

The teams periodically compete against each other in tests, called “challenges,” involving physical endurance, problem-solving ability, and resourcefulness. (The motto of the American version of the show is “Outwit. Outplay. Outlast.”) The tribe that wins a “reward challenge” is awarded “luxury” items (such as food, equipment or phone calls).

The tribe that wins an “immunity challenge” is temporarily safe from elimination from the larger contest, while the losing tribe attends a “tribal council” with the show’s host at the end of each episode to oust one of its members from the show through a secret vote.
