‘Obsessed’ Birmingham teen’s parents spend $3,000 to buy her 67 Stanley Cups

The nationwide crazy for Stanley Cups has one Birmingham area teen in its grip.

According to The Wall Street Journal, high school sophomore Amelia Awad has 67 of the popular insulated cup.

Awad, 16, told the paper she got her first Stanley Quencher a year ago after seeing one on TikTok.

“I’m obsessed,” she said.

Her parents have spent about $3,000 to acquire them in a variety of colors and styles. “If they are rare, I would want to use them more because I’m special for having them,” Awad said.

She tries to use every one of them, and has acquired more than 137,000 TikTok followers documenting how she coordinates her tumblers with different outfits.

The Stanley Quencher ranges in price at some outlets from $35 to $50 in limited edition sizes.

Awad isn’t the only person obsessed over the cups. A 23-year-old Sacramento, Calif. woman has been accused of swiping 65 Stanley Cups, valued at about $2,500, from multiple retailers.
